Whole seedlings were measured with the following light intensities: 500-ms saturating light pulses, 5,000 μmol m−2 s−1; and 4 min of actinic light, 120 μmol m−2 s−1. Fv/Fm, Maximum quantum yield of PSII; ΦPSII, effective quantum yield of PSII; qL, fraction of open PSII centers; NPQ, nonphotochemical quenching.
