Myelin ultrastructure in mice carrying the Brn-1 knock-in allele. Ultrathin sections from 5-month-old wild-type (A, C, and E) and Oct-6Brn-1/lacZ (B, D, and F) mice were recorded by electron microscopy to show myelinating (A and B) and nonmyelinating (E and F) Schwann cells and the periodicity of myelin sheaths from axons with comparable calibers (C and D).
