Factors affecting the foraging behaviours (consumption or caching) by willow tits. (a) Willow tits shifted their foraging modes from consumption to caching as they repeated feeder visitations. (b) Willow tits generally consumed seeds when they visited the feeder alone, but they tended to cache a seed in the presence of flock members. Sample size: n = 381 feeder visitations by 13 individuals in 41 trials.
