Loss of ERβ is associated with occurrence of EMT in mammary tumors. Microphotographs of serial tumor sections analyzed by immunohistochemistry for the expression of E-cadherin, vimentin, α-SMA and the cytoplasmic active form of B-catenin. Areas of tumors arising in the absence of ERβ (K14CreERβ F/F p53 F/F mice) display decreased levels or loss of E-cadherin and increased expression of vimentin, α-SMA and B-catenin. Scale bars, 100 μm. ER estrogen receptor, α-SMA alpha-smooth muscle actin
