Summary diagram of the novel role of Znf179 in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) cell cycle regulation and differentiation. Overexpression of Znf179 induces differentiation of primary GBM cells accompanied by elevated glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) expression through upregulating several cell-cycle-related factors, i.e., p53, p21, and p27, and inducing cell-cycle arrest in the G0/G1 phase.
