Opposite correlations between order and short MTs for crossing-only severing and minus end treadmilling. Increasing vt resulted in increased S2 and increased the fraction of short MTs (<1.6 μm) with and without crossing-only severing (three curves as indicated in legend). For any given value of vt, increasing rx resulted in an increase of the short MTs but a decrease of S2. The vt ranges from 0.01 to 0.06 μm/s, and identical values of vt are connected by gray lines (SI Appendix, Measuring Length Distributions of Discordant MT Populations).
