Time course analysis of in vitro uptake of 18F-FDG. Mean 18F-FDG uptake was determined over a period of 60 min for clinical isolates of S. aureus (red) and E. coli (dark blue), and for the B. subtilis type strain 168 (light blue) and its ptsG (orange) or ptsI mutant (purple) derivatives. Heat-killed bacteria (orange) served as negative controls. Samples were withdrawn at the indicated time points to assess the 18F-FDG uptake. *p < 0.01 vs. heat-killed controls; #p < 0.001 vs. both mutants; Δp < 0.001 vs. the ΔptsG mutant.
