Eye traces were calculated as a weighted dynamic sum of the elicited population spikes, which are visible as white dots in the eye position traces. Interpolation and smoothing of these data points yield the emerging eye position traces that allow computation of the associated velocity profiles (see Methods 2.9). b Eye velocity profiles show the strong effect of the lateral connections on saccade performance.
