The specific rates of PepTBE hydrolysis (v, ([S], μM)/([E], μM) min) are given; n is the ratio of substrate hydrolysis rates in the presence and absence of the effector (vef/v0), where n < 1 corresponds to inhibition (italicized), and n > 1 corresponds to activation of hydrolysis (shown in bold). The error did not exceed 10%. Experimental conditions: 50 mM Tris-HCl buffer, pH 8.1; 0.15 M NaCl; 10% DMSO; 0.1 mM PepTBE; 0.2 mM DTDP; 2.5 mM Nu; 20 mM MgCl2; 0.2 μM enzyme; 37°C.
