For the anti-anti conformations, the value of χ for DNA corresponds to high anti (230–260°) whereas for RNA, its value corresponds to just anti (180–200°). This difference is caused by the hydroxyl group at the 2′ position in the RNA sugar, which interacts with the backbone or other bases. (Blue lines) DNA; (red lines) RNA.
