Pin1 is essential for compensatory hypertrophy of pancreatic β-cell mass. A–D, compensatory hypertrophy of β-cell mass was suppressed in βPin1 KO mice. Both control and βPin1 KO mice were fed the HFHS diet for 20 weeks (n = 6–7). A and B, islet areas and β-cell masses were measured for comparison between control and βPin1 KO mice. C, Ki67-positive cells were counted as an indicator of cell proliferation.
