Effects of light intensity on carotenoid content of E. gracilis cells. Cells were grown under the indicated light intensities for 7 days. Relative carotenoid content per cell was calculated by normalizing molar ratios of major carotenoid species to chlorophyll a content. β, β-carotene; Neo, neoxanthin; Ddx, diadinoxanthin; Dtx, diatoxanthin.
