Flat mount and intact retina sample preparation: (a) Gross eye anatomy and (b) work flow of sample preparation. The cornea and lens are removed first, followed by the sclera and choroid. The retina is either cut four times to produce the clover-like structure used in retinal flat mounts (top row) or kept intact then cleared for use with DSLM imaging (bottom row).
