FTIR spectra of the exhaust gas for (a) air and (b) N₂ discharges with and without seeds. In addition to nitrogen oxides, water gas, CO₂, CO and the −C(CH₃)₃− group were observed in the FTIR spectra for both air and N₂ flow discharges in the presence of cotton seeds, which confirms plasma chemical etching of the seed surface via oxidation of organic components present on the seed coat.
