EpCAM aptamer mediated survivin knockdown transforms 5-FU into a colorectal cancer stem cell killer. Colorectal cancer HT-29 cells were first treated with EpCAM aptamer-survivin siRNA chimera for 24 hours followed by treatment with 2 μM 5-FU for 5 days. Tumoursphere formation assay was used to examine the self-renewal capacities of treated cells. The bar graph shows the estimated stem cell frequencies.
