Figure 2

Decreased secretion of IL-17A and IFN-γ in both Th17- and Th1-driving conditions by EKC. (a) CD4+ T cells were purified from Balb/c mice and activated with 1 μg/mL of plate-bound anti-CD3/CD28 antibodies in the presence of 25 ng/mL IL-6 and 2.5 ng/mL TGF-β, with or without EKC. Production of IL-17A, IFN-γ, TNF-α, and IL-12p40 was detected by ELISA. (b) Isolated CD4+ T cells were stimulated with plate-bound anti-CD3/CD28 antibodies with or without E. kansui under Th1-driving cytokine conditions (10 ng/mL IL-2, 5 ng/mL IL-12, and 5 μg/mL anti-IL-4) for 3 days. The concentration of cytokines in the supernatant was detected by ELISA. Values represent the mean ± SD. (p < 0.05; ∗∗p < 0.01; and ∗∗∗p < 0.001 compared with the DMSO-treated group).
