The lower image is a computational analysis of an elastic shell undergoing crumpling transition when the pressure difference across the shell is increasing. (B) Mechanistic models that describe cell dynamics must incorporate cell mechanics, biochemistry and gene expression together in a single picture. These systems interact with each other and give rise to complex cell behavior in biological contexts.
