CIP from group B Streptococcus does not compete with S. aureus Eap for C4b binding. The ability of untagged CIP to compete the AlphaScreen signal generated by C4b‐biotin and either myc‐tagged full‐length Eap or Eap34 was assessed over a logarithmic dilution series. All assay points were conducted in triplicate prior to fitting to a dose‐response curve. The weak and incomplete competitive effect displayed by CIP only at the highest concentrations tested suggests that the CIP binding site on C4b is distinct from that from Eap.
