The abundance of C. tropicale correlates with both litter treatment and pathogen damage. (a) Seedlings exposed to cacao litter were more strongly dominated by C. tropicale. There were significant differences in the number of reads of OTU1 (best match C. tropicale) across litter treatments (plotted in black: number of reads in the NGS dataset). For the culture-based dataset, this trend was qualitatively the same (plotted in grey: percentage of isolates identified as OTU1, for leaves with more than one isolate).
