SSX2 supports the growth of melanoma cells. (A) Immunohistochemical staining of melanoma cell lines with endogenous SSX2/3 expression (FM6, FM45 and FM79) with anti‐SSX2/3 mAb 1A4. (B) The melanoma cell lines were transduced with lentivirus carrying SSX2‐specific shRNAs or scrambled control shRNA and knockdown verified by Western blotting (anti‐SSX2‐4, mAb E3AS). (C) Cells carrying SSX2‐specific or scrambled shRNAs was seeded at equal densities and the number of cells was counted after 3 and 6 days. Error bars show standard deviation of triplicates. (D) Clonogenicity of cells carrying SSX2‐specific or scrambled shRNA. Triplicates were stained with crystal violet after 10–14 days of growth.
