Overview of the biomarker profile corresponding to low circulating microRNA levels. The depicted miRNAs are all lower expressed in plasma of heart failure patients with PAD and multiple manifestations of atherosclerotic disease. Low levels of these miRNAs are associated with high plasma levels of several biomarkers which are related to processes involved in atherosclerosis. ESAM endothelial cell-selective adhesion molecule, GDF-15 growth differentiation factor 15, LTBR lymphotoxin beta receptor, NGAL neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin, PIGR polymeric immunoglobulin receptor, RAGE receptor for advanced glycation end products, TNFR-1 tumor necrosis factor alpha receptor 1 and troy; tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member
