Comparison between ex-miRNA and total plasma miRNA. (a) At least one miRNA (cfa-miR-181c) remained statistically significant for ex-miRNA at a false discovery rate (FDR) as low as 5% when comparing between dogs with and without signs of CHF. The number of significant miRNA dropped from 78 to 0 for total plasma miRNA for a FDR of ≤10%. (b) Hierarchical clustering of plasma exosomal and total plasma miRNA expressions using normalised Cq number for the individual dogs (green = higher expression, red = lower expression). Clustering shows closer association by source of miRNA and not by individual dogs. EX = ex-miRNA; Total = total plasma miRNA.
