Figure 4

Dose-dependent response of airway epithelium cells (BEAS-2B) after treatment with alternariol (AOH) and lipopolysaccharide (LPS). (a) BEAS-2B cells were treated with (5–10 μM) of AOH in the presence and absence of 10 μg of LPS to measure IL8 levels released. Cell densities were 5 × 105 cells/well and were incubated for 24 h under normal conditions at 37 °C, 5% CO2 after treatment; (b) BEAS-2B cells were treated with (10 nM–10 μM) of AOH in the presence and absence of 10 μg of LPS to measure IL8 levels released in supernatants using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Cell densities were 5 × 105 cells/well and were incubated for 24 h under normal conditions at 37 °C, 5% CO2 after treatment. An * indicates p < 0.05 according to Student’s t-test when comparing AOH + LPS treatments to LPS-induced control.
