Lentiviral silencing of NLRP3 attenuated HHcy-accelerated atherosclerosis. ApoE^−/− mice were fed regular chow (control), high fat (HF) diet or HF plus high methionine (HF+HM) diet to induce HHcy for 10 weeks. The NLRP3 shRNA and scrambled shRNA were injected via tail vein twice at the second and the sixth week after HF+HM diet. Mouse aortas and hearts were harvested. Histologic analysis of aortic root plaque and en face analysis of aortic lesion are shown.
