Data sources: The malaria data were obtained from the Chinese malaria enhanced surveillance information system.^7,20 The geographical distribution of dominant Anopheles vectors of human malaria in China was obtained from the Malaria Atlas project.³² The population data at national and sub-national level for each year were obtained from the national statistical bureau of China.³¹
