The molecular mechanism of individual response to chemotherapy. Rs3742106 G-allelic ABCC4 disrupts the binding of miR-3190-5p and results in over-expression of ABCC4 and consequent low intracellular concentration of drug, as well as resistance to chemotherapy. On the contrary, the T-allelic ABCC4 generates a binding-site for miR-3190-5p and leads to attenuated expression of ABCC4 protein, elevated intracellular concentration of 5-FU, and increased sensitivity of cells to the chemotherapy.
