Usage of planar lipid bilayers for examination of molecular mobility in living cells. Single-molecule images of Qdot 585-labeled CD45 in living Jurkat cells on a lipid bilayer (A,B) and on an antibody-coated glass surface (C,D). Single-frame images (A,C) and 200-frame averaged images (B,D) recorded at 33 ms/frame are shown. The difference between single-frame images and multi-frame averaged images indicates high molecular mobility. Bar, 10 μm.
