An example of a 20-minute application of sham stimulation (top panel) and active anodal stimulation (second panel down). After the application of tDCS, the long lasting after effects are sufficient that alternated brain activity and cognitive processing can be measured for 1–5 hours in many stimulation protocols and sites. The bottom panels illustrate that tDCS easily allows for the recording of electrophysiological responses or the acquisition of neuroimaging data following stimulation. It is also possible to acquire data during stimulation with certain stimulators and recording equipment.
