Chromosome numbers and sizes (kilobases) were obtained using S. cerevisiae S288C as a reference strain. (B) Southern blot of the PFGE gel. Hybridization with BIO1 probe revealed copies of BIO1 on multiple chromosomes in the evolved strains.
