Mean values of luminance distribution of alizarin red S staining in MC3T3-E1 osteoblast-like cells cultured for 28 days on control H3PO4-modified HA surfaces and on modified HA surfaces irradiated with UV/O3 for 5 min. Because the staining intensity is inversely proportional to the distribution value, mineralisation of cells grown on irradiated HA surface was significantly higher than that of cells cultured on control surface.
