Classical clinical case definition Supportive laboratory findings
Persistent fever for 5 days with additional at least 4 of the 5 following symptoms:
  • Bilateral conjunctival injection

  • Changes in lips and oral mucosa

  • Polymorphous exanthema

  • Cervical lymphadenopathy, usually unilateral

  • Changes in hands and feet: erythema, edema and desquamation.

  • Elevated Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR)

  • Elevated C Reactive Protein (CRP)

  • Leukocytosis with neutrophilia

  • Hyponatremia

  • Hypoalbuminemia

  • Anemia
