The rectangle in A is a wedge-shaped CMI detected by postmortem 3T MRI FLAIR imaging in the brain of subject C1 (A). This block was subsequently fixed, sliced, and stained with HE (B, C). The rectangle in B is enlarged in C and D. With immunohistochemistry for Aβ (D), senile plaques (brown) are lost in the surrounding CMI, and degenerated Aβ-positive vessels are apposed to the CMI.
