Representative western blots and statistics (A) showed that AKT/sirtuin 1 expression significantly increased in the simvastatin-pre-treated cells 6 and 24 h after radiation in vitro. The expression of B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2), p53, poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) expression and p53 phosphorylation was not significantly altered following radiation and simvastatin treatment (B).
