Schematic description of Aβ₄₂ aggregation inhibition and the dissociation of pre-formed aggregates by photo-excited MB. The in vitro and in vivo experiments performed with the Drosophila AD model were conducted under the illumination of red LED light. The binding interaction of MB to Aβ₄₂ aggregates and the photo-oxidation of the peptides induce disruption in the structural conformation, thereby blocking (or reversing) the progress of aggregation.
