The asterisk (*) indicates the increased fluorescence of W501 induced by ATP hydrolysis. For the equilibrium binding constants a notation is used that distinguishes between constants in the absence and presence of actin by using italics type (k _x, K _x) and bold (k _x, K _x), respectively.
