30-min EC50 versus 24-h MBC (Vibrio fischeri), mg metal/L. EC50 values were calculated from dose-response curves of 30-min inhibition of bioluminescence. 24-h minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC) is the lowest tested concentration to which bacteria were exposed for 24 h that prevented bacteria from growing (form colonies) after re-inoculation on nutrient agar.
