Temperature-dependent drug-release kinetics from chemically cross-linked thermosensitive hydrogel.34 (A) At temperatures below the LCST of the hydrogel, drug molecules are released from the swollen gel by simple diffusion process. (B) At temperatures above the LCST, rapid release of drug molecules occurs by the initial shrinkage of the hydrogel, followed by slow release of drugs from the condensed structure, showing two different pharmacokinetic profiles.
