Figure 10

Effect of piperine analogs on Rho 123 accumulation in (a) KB 3–1 (parental) and KB ChR 8–5 (resistant) cells and (b) SW480 (parental) and SW480-VCR (resistant) cells. Cells were incubated with 4 μM of verapamil, piperine, Pip1, and Pip2. The compounds concentration in this assay was twice as that used for the cell viability and clonogenic assay, so as to clearly differentiate the Rho 123 accumulation between the control and treated cells. All the images were acquired using 20 × objective in a Nikon Eclipse Ti-S inverted fluorescence microscope (Scale 100 µM) (Nikon Instruments, Melville, New York), and processed with Nikon Br 4.0 Software.
