Nitrite reductase activity was measured for whole RCH2 cells. Cells were grown under anaerobic denitrifying conditions with 20 mM furmarate as a carbon source and 20 mM nitrate as an electron acceptor in the presence of no exogenous metal, 3 mM uranyl acetate or 120 μM K2Cr2O7. Nitrite reductase values are reported as Units/mg protein, where a unit corresponds to 1 nmol of nitrite reduced/min.
