CK2 activity in immunoprecipitates of the ectopically expressed enzyme present in lysates and in the extracellular liquid. Immunoprecipitates were obtained with anti-HA monoclonal antibody after treatment of cell lysates and of the extracellular fluid as described in Materials and Methods. The assay of CK2 phosphorylating activity was also performed as described in Materials and Methods by using a CK2-specific peptide substrate. Where indicated, recombinant X. laevis CK2β (1 pmol) (rCK2β) was added to the assay mixture. (A and B) The results obtained with cells transfected with X. laevis CK2α, CK2α and CK2β, or empty vector.
