Regions of cortex adjacent to microinfarcts demonstrated multiple irregularities. Number of AISs were significantly decreased by 87% in average number of AIS when compared to controls (p = 0.0078). Number of node–paranode complex was also decreased by 86.2% in average number of node–paranode complex when compared to controls (p = 0.1687).
