HIF-1α is overexpressed in muscle biopsies from DM patients. Double immunofluorescence show that HIF-1α is present mostly in perifascicular atrophic fibres and some of them are also positive for RIG-I and STAT1. Control muscle biopsies are negative for HIF-1α, RIG-I and STAT1. Magnification ×200.
