The ER pool of proteins of the BCL-2 family plays a central role in the regulation of the UPR, calcium homeostasis and autophagy, acting as molecular bridges between these stress pathways. Additionally, the activation of these pathways may lead to different cellular outcomes, such as improved bioenergetics and survival or cell death.
