Under anoxic conditions, a new H2O2-degrading activity appears. Wild-type (MG1655) and Hpx (LC106) cells were grown and assayed aerobically or anaerobically. Rates of H2O2 scavenging were measured as described. Error bars in this and subsequent figures represent SEM of three independent experiments.
