Optogenetic stimulation in a naïve animal does not evoke LFP responses. Averaged LFP traces in ipsilateral dDG/dHP and bilateral V1 for 1-Hz and 40-Hz dDG stimulation in a control naïve animal. Results demonstrate that the observed optogenetically evoked LFP responses (Fig. 3) are a direct result of ChR2 stimulation, not photoelectrically induced artifacts or undesired light-induced activation of the visual pathway.
