PGD score by outcome subgroup and time post-transplant. PGD is the clinical syndrome of chest radiographic changes and poor oxygenation that represents early acute injury to the transplanted lung. The PGD scores used in the study were as defined in the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation consensus definition.²⁸ The distribution of the PGD score by study group, measured at baseline and 24, 48, and 72 hours after the transplant, is shown. A score of 0 represents no evidence of PGD, and a score of 3 represents the most severe form of PGD.
