Amide-aromatic Interactions: Interactions of Alkyl Ureas with Naphthalene and Anthracene by Solubility Assays at 25°C. The negative logarithm of the solubility of the aromatic hydrocarbon ( m2ss) , normalized by its extrapolated molal solubility in the absence of solute ( m2,0ss) is plotted versus alkyl urea molality m3 and fit to a linear or quadratic equation as shown to obtain μ23 from the initial slope (see Equation 2). Solubility data quantifying interactions of naphthalene with four additional amides are shown in Supplemental Figure S5.
