M/F: male/female; APOE ε4: percentage of older adults with one or more APOE ε4 alleles; BMI: body mass index; BP: blood pressure. Values represent means (standard deviations) for continuous variables and either ratio (M/F) or percentages (APOE ε4) for categorical variables. Data was missing for APOE ε4 (26%), BMI (17%) and BP (17%). P-values were calculated from independent samples t-tests, except for M/F, which was calculated from a Chi-square test.
