Pentraxin 3 (PTX3) (A), C-reactive protein (CRP) (B), and SAP (C) are found in human atherosclerotic plaques. PTX3, CRP, and SAP (green) deposited mainly in the necrotic core (dashed areas) where C5b-9 (red) was also mostly found. The exclusion images showed the specific signal for each of the proteins obtained after deletion of the collagen-associated unselective fluorescence.
