(A,B) H&E staining of retinal cross-sections showing that intravitreal TMZ injection significantly inhibited the attenuation of total retinal thickness and IPL thickness in response to I/R damage 7 days after reperfusion. (C,D) FG labeling was performed 7 days after reperfusion. The results indicated that TMZ significantly increased the number of surviving cells in the RGC layer compared with that in the untreated I/R group. (E) The production of nitrotyrosine was significantly decreased by TMZ treatment in the whole retina 24 h after reperfusion compared with that in the untreated retinas. (F,G) As measured by real-time PCR, intravitreal injection of TMZ significantly suppressed the expression of TNFα and IL1β mRNA in retinas. Scale bar =50 μm. The data represents the means ± S.D.
